Through special events and acts of remembrance, we honor the sacrifices made by our Veterans.
Postcards for Peace offers a unique way to send messages of gratitude to those who have served Canada in times of war, military conflict, and peace, as well as to current Canadian Armed Forces members. This activity encourages us to actively remember and celebrate the contributions of Canadian Veterans.
In partnership with PostcardUnited and Veterans Affairs Canada, we will send a pack of Postcards for Peace (until closed) to members who take a moment to make a comment below—thanking a veteran or sharing a story of what Remembrance Day means to you. (Hurry, supplies are running low! Ships worldwide for free.)

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” “Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.”
In Italy, Remembrance Day is Jan. 27, to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust. In Canada, it is probably Armistice Day, to commemorate the end of World War I and other wars.
In any case, I am happy to participate in this initiative as well.

For a nation of eight million people, Canada’s war effort can be considered remarkable. Indeed, the following figures must be compared: more than 600,000 men enlisted, about 65,000 were killed and 180,000 were wounded. Even though the war divided the Canadian nation over conscription and the nature of the war effort to be provided, it nevertheless allowed Canada to gradually strengthen its autonomy on the international stage. In 1919, Canada signed the Treaty of Versailles, which officially ended the war, and joined the newly created League of Nations as an autonomous country.
Thanks to the sacrifice of Canadian poilus, and particularly among them the 22nd Battalion, especially, a French-Canadian battalion created in 1914. The 22nd Battalion’s feats of arms during World War I were numerous and glorious. The 22nd was awarded no less than 18 battle honors on its flag. But the toll was heavy: 1,000 dead and 3,000 wounded. In early 1919, the unit returned to Canada in may and was disbanded

Fantastic, Veterans around the world did the best for their Countries, and they deserve our respect. We have been sending Veterans cards that you shared with us to people who are helping in Ukraine and they were so happy. ohhh please if we can receive the pack of cards send us by usual way, last time you sent us many wonderful cards in a private service and it was so expensive to us because the pack was delivered to our home: wonderful service but extremely expensive, we had to pay a big tax. Usual postal service from your Country is arriving to Costa Rica easily. Thanks. The card is wonderful.
Peace cannot be maintained by force but by mutual understanding.
At present, there are about 16 countries and regions in the world at war, and many soldiers and soldiers are sacrificed on the battlefield every day. May there be no war in the world!
The world doesn’t need war

I´m interested in WWII and Canada and Canadian veterans have very special place in this conflict in my point of view. Of coarse there were many canadian units and soldiers on all battlefields of WWII, but the main importance of Canada is somwhere else. Canada itself wasn´t strongly affected by fighting, so its area was safe for training soldiers and units. Huge amount of pilots of RAF was trained in Canada including Czechoslovakian pilots serving in RAF. Sometimes is necessary to use force to destroy evil. It is important to find soldiers for it, but always is even more important to find sufficient support for them. So huge thank for not only canadian veterans, but also for all canadian people supporting their fight. We should remember this especially in aactual hard times.

PEACE!NO WAR!
War veterans first adopted the red poppy as a symbol of respect for war victims as early as 1920. This symbol appeared in Canadian doctor John McCrea’s poem “On the Flemish Fields”. He served as a military surgeon during the war, but the pain, suffering and death of soldiers touched him deeply. Writing poetry helped him deal with the burden of war trauma.

Last month, September 17, we celebrated in my village, the commemoration of the start of Operation Market Garden, 80 years ago when my village was liberated by American, English and Canadian soldiers who landed here in the meadows with gliders and parachutists. I was annoyed that only English and American flags were hung. This is a nice project to also honor the Canadian veterans and to be able to thank them personally!
Thanks for all veterans, Canadian, American, England and many others in the world for their devotion and courage… In France, very proud to honor them this year the 6 June for the 80 birthday of the D-day in Normandie…

I don’t like war,but I really salute to all the people who fighted for further peace and freedom.In my cultures background ,I pay tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the anti-Nazi cause on the East Asian front during World War II.

I thank all the veterans from the bottom of my heart for their selfless service. I want to share a small story of war that happened in Canada.
During World War I, the Battle of Vimy Ridge in 1917 marked a pivotal moment for Canada. Canadian troops, united and determined, faced a formidable German stronghold. Despite harsh conditions, they executed a meticulous plan, capturing the ridge after fierce fighting. This victory, achieved at great cost, symbolized Canada’s growing identity and bravery. Among the fallen was Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, who penned “In Flanders Fields.” Today, as we remember those who fought, we honor their courage and sacrifice, ensuring their legacy lives on in our hearts and history every Remembrance Day.

Peace is hard-won and precious, and we have always stood firmly on the right side of history and on the side of the progress of human civilisation, pursuing our own development while firmly upholding world peace and development, and better safeguarding world peace and development with our own development.
We don’t really have an equivalent holiday in Spain. There is a National Day of the Spanish Armed Forces, but it’s not widely celebrated (or known, I would argue). I’m not one for war, but still thank all people who have fought or are fighting for freedom and against oppression of any kind and have therefore helped ensure the prosperity of their communities and nations. Hopefully, one day, armed conflicts and the issues compromising the well-being of so many people around the world will become things of the past.

I have been a soldier when young as everybody in my age had to and I hated it, but I know this service has to be fulfilled. To many bad people would only be invited by a country not ready to defend itself.
But the ones doing the service are not as much appreciated as it should be.
In the tumultuous years of war, veterans, with their fearless courage and selfless dedication, defended the dignity and peace of their motherland. Driven by a deep love for their country, they stepped onto the battlefield, facing the barrage of enemy fire, yet always held close the hope for a future without conflict — a desire to witness a world free from war. Each charge by these veterans was a testament to their longing for peace; every drop of sweat and blood was a tribute to life itself. Today, as we enjoy the tranquility of our lives, it is thanks to their sacrifices and steadfastness. May every veteran feel the warmth and respect of society under this peaceful sun, for the peace they forged with their lives shines like a brilliant pearl, illuminating the river of history, never to fade.
Against war! ! I believe that conflicts will disappear if we respect and love each other rather than using violence. I hope the world will become more peaceful.

During my work last month I helped with the commemoration of the soldiers who were involved in the liberation route through South-East Netherlands during the Second World War. I think it is important to remember them and honor them for what they meant for our freedom.
